Trusting God in the Tough Moments

It's easy to trust God when life is easy. The sun always seems to shine, there's a nice breeze blowing, and you have a smile on your face. However, we are not always promised continuous sunny days. There are moments in our life that will seem overwhelming, painful, and will define who we are as God's children. What do you do when you are grieved with anger because someone has done you wrong or when someone you love dearly passes away and you can't seem to get out of bed? What then?

In 1 Samuel 30, we join David on his journey and he was greatly distressed. He and his men returned to town to find their wife and children held captive, the town burned to the ground, and many people sold into slavery. David and his men were deeply grieved and weeped until they were too exhausted to weep any more (1 Samuel 30: 1-6). Even when other people contemplated stoning him, David was encouraged in the Lord.

Wow! Talk about a tough moment in David's life. Even in the midst of one of David's greatest pains, he trusted the Lord. David said in Psalm 56:3-4 (AMP), When I am afraid, I will put my trust and faith in you. In God, whose Word I praise; I have put my trust; I shall not fear. What can mere man do to me. What about you? Are you experiencing a tough moment in your life. Are you grieved in pain wondering how you will survive? You can have the peace of God in the worst situations. There is nothing too big for God. You may not have control over what happens to you, but you can let God take care of you and fight those tough battles for you. We don't get to choose what happens to us. Sometimes it is necessary to go through those tough moments in our life so that we may depend on Him and, like David, be encouraged in the Lord.

I want you to be encouraged today. There is a time to grieve and a time to be done grieving. David grieved until he just couldn't any longer. It was then, he was encouraged in the Lord. Life is tough and it can be excruciating at times, but remember that God is bigger than any pain or fear we may have. If we give it all to Him, He will take care of us.
