The Battles We Face

This past Sunday, we found ourselves with the Israelites as they were escaping Egypt (check out the Exodus 14!). Imagine being in captivity and then escaping for your life with your captors not far behind. You have all of your belongings, your family, and anything you can carry. You keep looking over your shoulder fearing they will catch you at any time. Everything seems bleak and you are losing hope fast. However, you are following a cool guy named Moses. Moses understands you and was sent into Egypt to get you outta there! You look at Moses in need of direction and encouragement. Let's face it, if your captors catch you, they will kill you and your family. Moses tells you, "Fear not; stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord which He will work for you today. For the Egyptians (captors) you see today, you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest. (Exodus 14: 13-14)"

You see, Moses wasn't acting alone in this rescue of the Israelites, he had the Lord going ahead making their escape route.

Moses and the Israelites came to a large body of water and the Egyptians were so close. Moses put his staff in the water and the water split in two and the Israelites walked on dry ground to the other side. The Egyptians have almost completely caught up to them and are also going through the sea's dry ground. Once the last Israelite crossed, the two bodies of water became one again. Every Egyptian that was chasing them drowned.

It may seem like you are facing a battle. Life these days is tough all around. Everything costs more, yet we are paid less. The rent and electric is due on the same day and you have no money. You are having marital problems and your son needs to see a specialist because something may be wrong with his kidney. You feel like your friends have deserted you and you just feel hopeless.

I know it seems that way, but the Lord is fighting for you no matter what your facing. It may feel like all that is against you is nipping at your heels, but know that God is about to part the waters and you are about to escape on dry land. You will be at peace. You will be at rest. It is hard to give over control sometimes, but God will never leave your side. God will reveal himself in the midst of the battle. He has your back and will give you the protection and backup we need exactly when we need it most. Sometimes, it is the worst battles that the Lord shines the brightest.

Please be encouraged today and remember the Lord is fighting for you. Whatever you are facing, The Lord has your back and will give you the protection you need. Don't fear and stand firm. God will win the battle.

Love,

Liberty Rock Church
